Maybe "legitimate" is...Interesting post!<br /><br />Maybe "legitimate" isn't the word we're looking for. It's more about amateur vs. professional, and even that isn't a straight divide but more of a continuum. When does an author pass over from the amateur to the professional side? It's probably a combination of all the things we've talked about here:<br /><br />Writing becomes a passion, something you have to do.<br /><br />The rules and practices of writing are important to you and you work to constantly improve your craft and pay others (editors, proofreaders, story consultants) to help you. <br /><br />Readers come to value, praise, and purchase your work.<br />L.J.
