Yes, I agree these marketing tips apply for a lot of genres, and I do appreciate an author who can toss a little lightness and humor in after a particularly grueling scene. After being in the humor writing game for a few years, I've started to look at writing that is intended to be funny, yet I'm not laughing, and I've started to ask myself why. Part of the reason definitely comes down to my own funny bone. The rest of it is just about good writing.Gayle Carlinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15783449240138097315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4954486699810607306.post-37151726346134415492011-10-30T10:11:37.747-07:002011-10-30T10:11:37.747-07:00Well, Mission accomplished . . . one reader at a t...Well, Mission accomplished . . . one reader at a time.Peg Brantleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04906858123466177508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4954486699810607306.post-90189277517340935412011-10-30T09:42:40.798-07:002011-10-30T09:42:40.798-07:00I think I'm just gonna have to go out and buy ...I think I'm just gonna have to go out and buy your books!

Mission Accomplished!Peg Brantleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04906858123466177508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4954486699810607306.post-24664539733907192032011-10-30T00:01:59.697-07:002011-10-30T00:01:59.697-07:00Some good advice, Gayle--and I think that where ma...Some good advice, Gayle--and I think that where marketing is concerned, a lot of it can be applied to any genre.

I do believe that humor has a place in any genre. It relieves tension after you build it and gives the reader a chance to relax. Even some of the darkest authors, the good ones, see the value of humor and skillfully intertwine it into their work.ANDREW E. Try to write your query letter and synopsis in the same tone as your book, so agents and acquiring editors get a feel for your voice and writing style.Jodie Rennerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17180607353893233389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4954486699810607306.post-54924798313889014462011-10-29T08:38:43.147-07:002011-10-29T08:38:43.147-07:00Writing humor is very challenging! But I've never been able to combine crime and comedy. You have my admiration. Freezer Burn was a fun read.

L.J.
http://ljsellers.comL.J.
